· Getting here
We are at 113–115 Codicote Road, Welwyn, Hertfordshire AL6 9TY — a couple of minutes off Junction 6 of the A1(M). That junction is why we are easier to reach than places that look closer on a map.
Rough drive times
Welwyn Garden City is seven or eight minutes. Hatfield about ten. Hertford around fifteen, on country roads. Stevenage is fifteen, straight down the A1(M).
St Albans is about twenty minutes either across country or via the motorway. Letchworth and Hitchin are twenty-five. Luton is under half an hour on the A505 or through the lanes.
Bedford is around forty-five minutes; Cambridge around fifty, and about as simple a run as exists — you join the A1(M) and stay on it. North London is roughly half an hour from the North Circular outside rush hour.
Parking, and the question underneath the question
When people ask how far it is, they are quite often asking something else: will anyone see me.
The drive is set back from the Codicote Road. The parking is on site, in signed bays, and free.
That arrangement has been the same since 2005 and it is deliberate.
Before you set off
Ring first, particularly from any distance. We will confirm who is working and put you in the book, and you will not have driven for an hour to find we are full.
