Tantric is a word that has been stretched to cover a great deal, so it is worth being clear about what it means here.
What it is
It is the slowest thing we do. Long, continuous strokes travel the length of the body rather than working one muscle group at a time, and the therapist keeps you breathing with her throughout — steadily, and more slowly than you would on your own.
The pace is the entire point. Where a Swedish massage might cover the back in ten minutes, here it takes half an hour. What that does is difficult to describe to somebody who has not had one. The body stops keeping score, and the mind follows it down some while later.
What it is not
It is a massage. It stays a massage from beginning to end.
We say that plainly because the word has been used elsewhere to imply otherwise, and people deserve to know what they are booking before they arrive rather than after.
Who books it
Two sorts of people, mostly. Those who have had a lot of ordinary massages and want something that goes further than muscle work. And those who carry stress in a way that no amount of shoulder work seems to shift — where the problem is not really in the shoulders at all.
You need no experience of it. Most people booking it have never had one.
Practicalities
One hour, £160. We do not offer it shorter, because under an hour there is not enough time for the pace to do what it does — it would just be a slow massage, which is not the same thing.
