Depth without the pressure
Hot Stones Massage

Cash on arrival, before your massage. No deposit and no booking fee.
Hot stones massage uses smooth basalt stones warmed to a comfortable temperature and worked alongside the therapist's hands, so heat does the loosening rather than heavy pressure. Thirty minutes is £90, forty-five £110 and sixty £130 — ten pounds more than the full body massage at each length, which is the cost of the stones and the time to heat them. Cash on arrival, no deposit and no booking fee, given naturist in a private massage room.
Who it suits, and who it does not
It suits anyone who wants depth without force: people who feel the cold, people who find firm massage too much, and people whose real problem is that they cannot stop thinking. The warmth is properly soporific and a fair number of people drift off partway through, which we take as a compliment rather than a problem.
It is not the right choice for one specific stubborn knot — deep tissue is better at that, and at the same price. If what you want is a straightforward massage at a normal pace, the full body massage is the one.
What it feels like
The stones are heated before you arrive, so none of your time goes on waiting for them. You lie face down and the first few minutes are ordinary hand massage, warming the skin so the stones are not a shock.
Then she works the stones slowly down the back, either side of the spine, and along the arms and legs. Some are moved continuously; others are rested in the places where tension gathers and left there while she works elsewhere. You turn over for the last third. Muscles soften from the inside rather than being pushed, which is why you get the release of a deeper massage without any of the effort.
The stones are warm, never hot enough to be uncomfortable. Your therapist tests every stone against her own skin before it touches yours and adjusts as she goes. If one feels too warm on you, say so immediately and it comes off — skin tolerance varies a lot between people and there is no correct temperature.
The hand pressure stays light throughout by design. If you want more of it, ask, though at that point deep tissue may be the massage you actually wanted.
Afterwards
Arrange as little as possible for the rest of the day. Most people are slow and slightly sleepy for an hour or two afterwards, so it is a better booking before a quiet evening than before anything that needs concentration. Drink water and give yourself a few minutes before driving.
The others
If this is not the one: full body, deep tissue, four hand, tantric or body to body. Prices for all six are on the massage page.

- Body to Body Massage from £80 A naturist massage worked with the whole body rather than the hands alone.
Questions people ask
How hot are the stones?
Warm, never hot enough to be uncomfortable. Your therapist tests every stone against her own skin before it touches yours, and adjusts as she goes.
Is it suitable if I find massage too intense?
That is exactly who it is for. The heat does the work, so the pressure stays light throughout.
How long should I book?
Thirty minutes, forty-five or an hour, same as the full body massage. Thirty is enough for the back and shoulders and is the usual first try. The stones need a few minutes to settle wherever they are placed, so if you want the whole body worked with them, book the hour.
Is it any good for stubborn knots, or is deep tissue better?
Deep tissue is the better tool for a specific knot. Hot stones is for general held tension across the back and shoulders, especially when firm pressure is the thing you cannot face.
Is it a good choice if I have never had a massage before?
It is one of the easiest first massages there is. Nothing about it is intense, the heat does most of the work, and there is very little you have to do beyond lie still.
What should I do afterwards?
As little as you can arrange. The warmth leaves most people slow and slightly sleepy for an hour or two, so it is a better booking before a quiet evening than before a meeting.
