Nobody's first visit is as awkward as they expect
Most people who ring have never been anywhere like this before, and nearly all of them say the same thing afterwards — that they had built it up in their head for nothing. Here is exactly what happens, in order, and honest answers to the questions people would rather not ask on the phone.

From the phone call to walking back out

You ring
Say roughly when suits, and whether there is someone you would like to see. If you have never been, say that too — it is the normal case here, not the exception. Nothing is taken up front: no deposit, no booking fee, no account to make.

You arrive and park
Pull into our road and there are dedicated bays on the left, signed for the spa. The entrance is directly ahead of them. Five or ten minutes early is plenty.

A cup of tea, and you settle up
There is somewhere to sit. You pay in cash when you arrive, for whatever you booked, so nothing interrupts the end of it. Nobody will rush you through, and there is no waiting room full of other people — bookings go into private rooms, not a lounge.

You are shown to your room
Your own room for the hour. You undress in your own time behind a closed door, and your clothes stay in the room with you. Your therapist knocks before coming in.

Fifteen minutes in the sauna
If you asked for it when you booked, this is where it happens — before the massage, not after, because the heat is there to loosen you off first. Fifteen minutes is included; longer is charged, so say at the desk if you would like to stay in.

You say what you want from the hour
Firmer, lighter, a bad shoulder, somewhere to leave alone. Say it plainly — you will be asked, and answering honestly gets you a better massage than being polite about it. You can change your mind halfway through.

The massage
Your hour is your hour. Nobody is watching a clock on your behalf and nobody is waiting for the room.

You shower, and you go when you are ready
Showers are there before and after. Nothing to settle at the end because it is already paid — no upselling, nothing to sign, nothing that appears on a statement.

Answered plainly, because being coy about them would only make them worse.
Do I have to be completely naked?
Yes. That is what makes it a naturist massage, and it is why the hour runs without stopping to rearrange a towel. Almost everyone stops thinking about it within a few minutes of lying down. If the idea genuinely bothers you, this is probably not the right place, and we would rather say that than have you spend an hour uncomfortable.
Is the therapist naked too?
Yes. That is the difference between this and a massage anywhere else.
Will anyone see me arrive?
You park in our own bays rather than on the road, and you are shown straight to a room — there is no waiting area with other people in it. We are on the Codicote Road though, not hidden away, so we are not going to promise you that nobody ever sees anybody.
Do I have to be a naturist already?
No. Most people who come here have never done anything naturist in their lives. Being curious is the only qualification, and nobody will ask you about it.
How do I pay?
Cash on arrival, before your massage. There is no card machine, no deposit and no booking fee. Most people prefer it, and it means nothing appears on a bank statement.
Can women book?
Yes, and do — on their own and as couples.
What if I want to stop?
Say so and it stops. That applies at any point, for any reason, and nobody will ask you to explain yourself.
How early should I arrive?
Five or ten minutes is plenty. There is somewhere to sit with a cup of tea if you would rather come earlier.
Is there anywhere to shower?
Yes, before and after.
Do you take walk-ins?
Sometimes, but ring first. Therapists are usually booked and a two-minute call on 01438 820224 saves a wasted drive.
How does the sauna work?
Fifteen minutes is included with any massage, and it is taken before the massage rather than after — the heat is there to loosen you off beforehand. Say you would like it when you ring and reception will leave time for it. Longer than fifteen minutes is charged, so ask at the desk if you want to stay in.
