Hertford is eight miles east and, unusually for us, the drive involves no motorway at all. It is country roads the whole way, which is pleasant in daylight and slower than the mileage suggests after dark.
It is also one of the directions where people arrive noticeably more relaxed than they left, which the road probably deserves some credit for.

Pull into our road and there are dedicated bays on the left, signed for the spa. The entrance is directly ahead of them.
